Alexander Nininger Veteran's Home Christmas picnic held on December 2, 2006 with Department Comander George Wehrli in attendance.

Commander Roy Schofield then presented a copy of the charter to Mr. Leigh Cann, father of Sgt. Adam Cann who accepted on behave of this son. Mr. Cann spoke of his son and of Nathan Bruckenthal who is also buried near his son in Arlington National Cemetery .

Legion Members Cliff Handerhan, Jr from Post 157, Carol Fraser and Joe Motes were in attendance for the opening of the new VA Cemetery in Lantana. The right picture is that of an outdoor chapel.

On May 17th, Post 385 member Stewart Fraser was laid to rest at the newly opened South Florida VA National Cemetery, which was attended by his wife Carol Fraser, and post members Robert Nagle and Joe Motes, plus other friends and guests. The following are photos of the memorial service. This is a beautiful cemetery and to see deers running lose was something else.

Many items were presented to our Veterans, including a Karaoke player. Legionnaires presented were Joe Motes, Albert Darby, James Tewes and Bob Nagle.

Post 385 presented Korean War 60th Anniversary Certificate of Appreciation to the follow Post Veterans (L-R) Robert Angelotti, Lorraine Angelotti, William Davenport, Larry Lehtonen, Stanley Cohen, Carol Fraser, Bailey Cheek and Julian Smalkin. Thirty Three other certificates were mailed out.

Wreaths Across America across every National Veterans Cemeteries across America, and at the South Florida V.A. National Cemetery, we laid about 11,000 Wreaths, covering almost 95% of all current graves. It was so touching to see rows and rows of wreaths. This is the grave of Post member Frank Dingfelder, Vice Commander of our Post.

This week members of Post 385 enjoyed an evening at Anthony's Coal Stone Pizza, members from left to right are: Teddy Pomerantz, Joe Motes, James Tewes, Yolanda Santos, Carol Fraser, Bob Nagle, Lorraine Angelotti, George Koren, Alberto Darby and Ray Aguiar.

Yolanda Santos, Carol Fraser and James Tewes presented a plaque to the manager of Anthony's Coal Stone Pizza for their donation to our Post for the past 3 years.

Veterans Appreciation Day at the Sunrise V.A. Clinic, 500 chicken wings were given out to our Veterans made possible by American Legion Post 385, DAV Chapter 29 in Pembroke Pines, the Sons and Daughters of the American Revolutions.

Post member Irwin B. Baron, was awarded highest award by the Pembroke Pines Fire Chief at the February Council Meeting, post Commander James Tewes and Post Historian Carol Fraser were present for the ceremonies. The person (2nd from left) was the person saved, Irwin Baron is a 60 year Boy Scout.
